In 2019 the Czech National Bank and the Czech Republic celebrated the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the Czechoslovak currency and its monetary unit (koruna) and the putting into circulation of koruna banknotes and coins. Although cash is still king in the Czech Republic, a remarkable trend in the use of contactless cards has been observed recently. Generally, payments in the Czech Republic reflect conservatism on the one hand and liberalism together with an openness to innovations on the other hand. The presentation aims at providing the conference audience with the country situation as for both cash and cashless transactions. Future possible developments might be touched on too.
